My Story
I became a part of KRYZ radio in 2015, by invitation from Ron Iudice: the same way most of this Board became members!
My husband Mike and I, bought our home in Mariposa in 2006, coming here from San Jose. I retired from Bill Wilson Center, as Facilities Manager. Bill Wilson Center is 40 year old non-profit who works with at-risk youth. We had two buildings when I started working and 17 when I left. It was never just a job, and I loved my time there. If we had not moved, I would still be there. Prior to that I spent years in the hospitality field, working from bartender to Field Accounting Manager. I learned most of life’s lessons during those years.
During all those years, music was alway playing. I was in the Bay Area in the 60’s and went to every Thursday opening night at Fillmore West. The shows I remember best are, Big Brother and the Holding Co, Edgar Winters, Michael Bloomfield, Tim Buckley, Santana, HP Lovecraft, Moby Grape, Ten Years After and then quite a few more I don’t remember! But my love of music was strong and still is.
Community Radio is vital to our County. We can be of service with PSA’s and local live broadcasts, fire and road information, Fair and Festivals. We love local musicians and are happy to play their music. The station was a little slow to grow during the Pandemic, but now we are working with a varied group of people and are excited to grow in many new directions.
I am also President of the Mariposa Master Gardeners now, and have co-hosted a gardening show with them for several years. We cover everything from seed starting to orchard pruning. The Master Gardeners are always interested in topics you would like to know more of too!
We cannot do this without our Community Partners and the input from our listeners. Please share your thoughts, opinions, and requests with us.
As I like to say, you can find me in the garden, with KRYZ blasting away.
