My name is David Putonen aka The Hawk. I host the Hawks Nest show every Wednesday at 5:00 pm and again on Sunday at 5:00 pm PST.
My Story
The Hawk was born and raised in Gloucester, MA. At the age of 14 he heard an older neighbor playing a James Cotton Blues Band album outside his window, and his music life changed. He developed a deep love of Blues, Rock, and RB that he has sustained his entire life. At the age of 20, in 1980, he attended his first Grateful Dead show and began another life changing musical journey. He has currently seen over 150 Dead shows in all their lineups. He hitchiked to CA in 1983 and settled in Santa Cruz. As a single parent in 1999, he moved with his 10 y/o daughter to Merced. He spent many years as sales manager of FOX Sports radio, owned a Thrift store, and is currently a Realtor with Concierge Real Estate Services, serving Mariposa and Merced counties. He has bern with KRYZ, hosting his show, the Hawk's Nest, since 2016. His show airs Sunday's and Wednesday's, 5pm-6pm. He plays a mix of rock, blues, RB, hip hop, country, and Jazz. He also features weekly segment features and entertaining stories.
